Executive Update: Nov 2016

Take the Shot and Follow Your Dreams. That was the theme of our Ascend Gala on September 10. Thank you all for coming and celebrating our members, sponsors and Ascend’s mission of empowering Pan Asians to be tomorrow’s leaders.
In case you missed the Q & A session with Rich Cho, he provided many words of wisdom:

  • “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” – African Proverb
  • If you want to stand out, be the first one in the office and the last one to leave.
  • Every day is a new day to give it your all. Be competitive. Be present. Be the best you.
  • If you are passionate about something, it may mean making some sacrifices in your personal life. That may mean bringing back Top Ramen. (As an intern with the Seattle Super Sonics, Rich had to eat Top Ramen and sleep on the floor of his brother’s apartment. It was so cozy his head almost touched the stove/oven.)
  • Excellent communication is imperative. A strong cover letter can get you far.
  • “I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been” – Wayne Gretzky

Plus, we had a musical performance from Miss Washington USA 2016 Kelsey Schmidt, who sang For Good from Wicked. A full recap of our Gala will be in the October issue of the International Examiner. Warmest Regards,
